ABOUT THE COURSE
INSTRUCTOR
This course is part of the five-module curriculum Understanding Girls: A Trauma Informed Perspective. The goal of the curriculum is to strengthen the work between foster parents and community partners with girls through changing the way providers, and caregivers, think and talk about girls.
In Girls & Emotions, the second model in the curriculum, participants are introduced to the research behind how girls emotionally react to situations based on their brain development, experiences with trauma, and attachment styles. Parenting practices and culture of caregivers can impact how girls experience and express emotions. To address this, participants will participate in self-reflection activities to expose possible personal negative biases that could influence how they may communicate with and talk about girls in their care.
