About the Course
This six day curriculum was developed as part of the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services, New Worker Competency-Based Training Model. This curriculum provides Foster Care (FC) workers with the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to return to the workplace with strategies to assess safety, risk and family functioning and to provide appropriate interventions to ensure safety achieve permanency and promote well-being in every child we serve. The curriculum content was developed from resources including DCFS Policy and the Child Welfare Assessment and Decision Making model. The focus of this training is to understand and apply the concepts and principles of the Foster Care program combined with the principals of the Child Welfare Assessment and Decision Making model, risk assessment and safety planning. The ultimate goal is working with families to ensure the safety of their children while utilizing DCFS policy and best practice efforts that encompass an approach of child-centered family focused practice.
