About the Course
This course is designed for foster parents with children diagnosed with ADHD. This course accompanies the "Helping Your Child Manage ADHD" Handbook developed by Channing Bete. Participants will receive a complimentary copy of the book and complete the course activities to earn credit. The book is interactive, featuring fill-in sections, worksheets, and other engaging elements. The book is provided to foster parents for ongoing reference.
Through interactive exercises and research-based advice, foster parents will:
Understand what ADHD is, including its possible causes, how it's diagnosed, and what the condition might look like in a child (symptoms, behaviors, challenges).
Recognize how ADHD affects not just the child, but also the family, acknowledging the emotional, behavioral, academic, and social challenges that may arise.
Help parents systematically observe and track their child's behavior over time (through worksheets, fill-in sections) so they can monitor progress, triggers, and patterns.
Provide practical tools for setting goals and managing ADHD-related challenges: offering strategies to support behavior management, structure, and consistency at home and school.
