About the Course

This course is a part of the "Foster Parent Training: An In-Depth Exploration of Advanced Topics. Trainings will provide in-depth discussion of topics relevant for providing developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, care for children involved with the child welfare system. 


Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to define trauma and give 3 examples of different types of traumatic experiences.

  • Participants will be able to identify key symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

  • Participants will understand the potential impact of childhood trauma on behavior.

  • Participants will be able to identify at least 2 evidence-based treatments for children who have experienced trauma.
