This course provides comprehensive training on understanding substance use disorders, recognizing signs of opioid use, preventing opioid overdoses, effectively using Narcan, responding to overdoses, and supporting caregivers.

Learning Objectives:

• Understand Substance Use Disorders: Participants will be able to define substance use disorders and how they affect the brain.

• Recognize Signs of Opioid Use: Participants will learn to identify common signs and symptoms of opioid use and misuse.

• Prevent Opioid Overdose: Participants will gain knowledge of strategies and practices that can prevent opioid overdose.

• Use of Narcan: Participants will understand the purpose and proper use of Narcan (naloxone) in reversing opioid overdose.

• Respond to Overdoses: Participants will be trained in immediate steps to take when responding to an opioid overdose.

• Support for Caregivers: Participants will discuss how caregivers can support individuals with substance use disorders and protect themselves from secondary trauma.
