About the Course

This course provides comprehensive training on understanding substance use disorders, recognizing signs of opioid use, preventing opioid overdoses, effectively using Narcan, responding to overdoses, and supporting caregivers.

Objectives:
1. Understand Substance Use Disorders: Participants will be able to define substance use disorders
and how they affect the brain.

2. Recognize Signs of Opioid Use: Participants will learn to identify common signs and symptoms of
opioid use and misuse.

3. Prevent Opioid Overdose: Participants will gain knowledge of strategies and practices that can
prevent opioid overdose.

4. Use of Narcan: Participants will understand the purpose and proper use of Narcan (naloxone) in
reversing opioid overdose.

5. Respond to Overdoses: Participants will be trained in immediate steps to take when responding to
an opioid overdose.

6. Support for Caregivers: Participants will discuss how caregivers can support individuals with
substance use disorders and protect themselves from secondary trauma.
