About the Course

***If you are an educator, a school support staff member (such as a bus driver), or a child care provider required to complete the Mandatory Reporter online training, please note that access to the training varies by organization. Some school districts provide staff with a direct link, while others provide access through a district portal (such as Vector or SafeSchools).

The Louisiana Child Welfare Training Academy support team can assist with questions about the Mandatory Reporter Training and Moodle account issues, but we cannot troubleshoot problems related to your school district's portal or login process.

For assistance with logging in after creating an account, please email support@LCWTA.org before calling our support line.***

Every day the safety and well-being of some children across Louisiana are threatened by child abuse and neglect. Mandated reporters play a crucial role in helping to keep children safe.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize who is a mandated reporter and who is a permissive reporter

  • Understand the legal obligations of a mandated reporter

  • Make a report of suspected abuse and/or neglect to DCFS through either the Child Abuse Hotline or the Online Mandated Reporter Portal, and how to submit a follow-up report

  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of child abuse and neglect

  • Identify groups of children at higher risk for abuse/neglect

  • Apply techniques to use if a child discloses abuse or neglect to you
