About the Course

***If you completed the Mandated Reporter training on the LCWTA LMS between July 1 and July 31, 2025, your certificate is available in the My Certificates section of your account. You are also welcome to complete the new version of the Mandated Reporter training, which launched on August 1. Even if you have already completed the earlier version in July, you have the option to take the updated course at any time.***


Every day the safety and well-being of some children across Louisiana are threatened by child abuse and neglect. Mandated reporters play a crucial role in helping to keep children safe. 


Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize who is a mandated reporter and who is a permissive reporter

  • Understand the legal obligations of a mandated reporter

  • Make a report of suspected abuse and/or neglect to DCFS through either the Child Abuse Hotline or the Online Mandated Reporter Portal, and how to submit a follow-up report

  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of child abuse and neglect

  • Identify groups of children at higher risk for abuse/neglect

  • Apply techniques to use if a child discloses abuse or neglect to you
