QRTP: What Child Welfare Staff Need to Know
Child Welfare staff will learn how the implementation of Qualified Residential Treatment Programs Participants impacts them and their caseload. Staff will learn who, and how to refer a youth for QRTP care, and they will learn about the essential responsibilities of CW staff who work with youth in QRTPs and the critical timelines that must be met. Staff will also learn about the factors that precipitated the creation of this new opportunity for children and their families, and how QRTPs will function to help achieve permanency for QRTP residents and their families. Staff will also be directed to child welfare policies, forms and key staff that are involved in the QRTP process.

Quality Parenting Initiative (QPI): Real Life Applications
Trainings will provide an overview of QPI including rationale for implementation and benefits to children and families. Vignettes and interactive case discussion will be used to illustrate real life applications of QPI principles.
Learning Objectives:

- Participants will be able to state rationale for QPI
- Participants will be able to identify strategies for enhancing overall caregiving context
- Participants will be able to identify strategies for addressing specific roadblocks for implementing QPI

Raising Good Humans
This course builds on theories of attachment and moral development. It provides tools and exercises to help foster parents and caregivers help children learn how to discern and practice integrity, honesty, kindness, and other behaviors that will help them grow and function in society. Participants will share personal experiences, ideas, and learn how to utilize ethical dilemmas as a learning tool.
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
- Learn how children acquire morals and values.
- Learn how to identify unanticipated teachable moments.
- Be able to implement and design family activities which demonstrate various virtues.

Follow the story of a 10-year-old girl as she navigates her way through the foster care system, after being removed from her home and separated from her younger brother. You will experience what triggers causes her to react and behave the way she does. The story will give you the opportunity to witness and hopefully understand the trauma a child in foster care experiences.
Objective of this training:
1. Bring awareness to the importance of foster care programs and the need for quality foster parents.
2. Empathize with foster children and the trauma they have endured.
3. Understand why foster children exhibit behavior problems.

Ready Set Drive: Teen Driver Safety
Motor vehicle crashes remain among the leading causes of injury-related deaths and Louisiana currently has one of the highest fatality rates in the country when it comes to vehicle crashes. This training will focus on keeping both your young drivers and you safe behind the wheel. Participating in this training will help drivers increase safe driving knowledge, and hopefully encourage changing those unsafe driving behaviors.

Real Life Skills for Success
Successful independent living is exciting and challenging. What are the practical skills and knowledge that help make it easier? This course is designed for young people and their parents or foster parents, who can help them prepare for success in their first independent living situation. This course offers tips for making a great first impression on others, understanding legal terms like lease or security deposit, apartment safety, what is nice versus what is necessary for furnishing an apartment, and how to maintain a healthy body and mind. The course also touches on auto care and cautions, living within your means, and finding ways to earn extra income.
Note: Youth are encouraged to take the course with their foster parents and to go through the handouts with them and help them acquire skills that they do not yet have.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to help their youth:
- Develop SOCIAL SKILLS to make a positive first impression
- Learn the basics of successful INDEPENDENT LIVING
- Learn how to maintain a HEALTHY BODY AND MIND
- Understand AUTO maintenance needs and what to do in an accident or when pulled over by the police
- Learn the basics of finding income opportunities, budget basics, and paying off debt because MONEY MATTERS
