This course covers DCFS In-Home Safety Plans. The sections included are: DCFS In-Home Safety Plan defined, Developing a Safety Plan, Writing a Safety Plan and Monitoring a Safety Plan. It includes a pre- and post-test of writing a safety plan based on a case scenario.

Poverty intersects with other social determinants, such as racism and classism, creating structural vulnerabilities and evidence indicates impoverished children are disproportionality affected by maltreatment. Poverty, especially when combined with factors like parental depression, substance use, and social isolation, significantly increases the risk of child maltreatment. The presentation will discuss how these low-resource conditions contribute to disparities and why children from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, race, and ethnicity face closer scrutiny and affect child maltreatment reports. Course Objectives: Examine the intersection of poverty with other social determinants Identify the risk factors of poverty Analyze the disparities in child maltreatment reporting

This training highlights the importance of documentation in child welfare and provides guidance on the who/what/when/where/why and how of documenting in the case record. Emphasis is placed on capturing descriptive, thorough and pertinent information in regards to safety, permanency and well-being.

This training will address foundational issues of domestic violence in Louisiana, the impact of domestic violence during a Pandemic (COVID-19), the dynamics of domestic violence, and provide insight on the effects of domestic violence amongst diverse communities and populations.
