Introduction to Trauma Behavioral Health Assessment (TBH)
This training orients the learner to the TBH screen which is used on all children entering care. The portion of the TBH which caregivers complete is reviewed as well as the section to be completed by the child/adolescent. TBH helps to identify trauma experiences and problems that may not have been identified, and how to share information with key players in the child's life. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to: - Define and demonstrate an understanding of the Trauma and Behavioral Health Screening, an Assessment tool used in working with DCFS clients.

Introduction to Trauma-Informed Education
Trauma Informed Education is a healing-centered approach to adverse childhood experiences specifically as it applies to schools. This course discusses trauma and how it affects students, learning, and the classroom environment. The course also details what ACEs and trauma are, how to identify their signs and symptoms, how they impact students and schools, and how to respond in a compassionate, healing-centered way. Best practices for schools and classrooms regarding trauma-informed approaches to education are provided as well as how schools can recognize and respond to the secondary trauma school employees are exposed to. Learning Objectives: - The impact of adverse childhood experiences on students' education and on the school and classroom culture - How to identify the signs and symptoms of ACEs and trauma - Best practices for schools and classrooms regarding trauma-informed approaches to education - Recognition of the impact of secondary trauma on school employees.

Introduction to Worker Safety
This self-paced, online training is designed to provide participants with information to increase knowledge of safety-related issues in child welfare practice and offers practical skills for managing personal safety during interactions with families. This training presents information about worker safety awareness, assessment, and actions workers can take if/when they encounter unsafe situations. The training will also provide participants with ways in which they can apply preparation strategies that promote safety in child welfare practice. Course Objectives At the end of this training, participants will be able to: - Explain the importance of awareness, assessment, anticipation, and action as they relate to worker safety. - Define the common stages of threat/violence escalation. - Describe the signs that a person's behavior is escalating, recognize indicators that signal an interaction is becoming unsafe, and use techniques that promote safety during interaction with others at different stages of escalation. - Describe potentially dangerous situations workers may encounter in the field as they relate to substance abuse, domestic violence, and mental illness.

Introduction to Working with the Court
The course is designed to provide new workers with a basic overview of court and child welfare. Child welfare workers will be provided with practical tips on how to prepare for court and succeed with this aspect of their position. More in-depth court trainings will be provided in subsequent trainings. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to: - Demonstrate an understanding of the case worker's responsibility in court - Demonstrate an understanding of the different types of Child Welfare court hearings - Demonstrate an understanding of the different participants in court and their role - Demonstrate an understanding of how to prepare for court.

Introduction to the Louisiana Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC)
The purpose for the Louisiana ICPC Basic Training is to educate caseworkers on the purpose for ICPC utilizing polices from LA-Children Code and American Public Human Services Association. The training will not only discuss purpose but will it also address ICPC forms that are required for an ICPC referral. The training will discuss how to complete a home study assessment utilizing the home study outline located in PowerDMS and how to document monthly progress report(s).

Kids and Substance Abuse
In this course, Joyce V. Bracey, the Executive Director of CADA Prevention and Recovery Center, presents an overview of substance abuse prevention best practices to use with children and teenagers. Course participants will learn the science behind addiction and what risk factors contribute to drug and alcohol use among children and teenagers. Joyce stresses the importance of using prevention techniques as the best method to avoid addiction and drug and alcohol abuse but also covers the realities of drug and alcohol use among children and teenagers. Presented are practical ways to discuss drug and alcohol use and prevention with children and teenagers. How to respond to drug and alcohol use by children and teenagers is also addressed in this course.
