Child Passenger Safety 101: DCFS Specifics
This one hour course will provide the participants with the basic knowledge of child passenger safety. This includes the proper selection of the child safety seat according to the child's age, weight, and height; the proper harnessing of the child into the proper child safety seat, using all parts of the child safety seat correctly; proper selection of the location in the vehicle, according the child safety seat specifics and vehicle installation availability; proper use of the seat in the correct direction for the child's age, weight, height and development; a basic understanding of child safety seat installation instruction.
Objectives: The participant will be able to identify the proper child safety seat for the child's age, weight and height.
The participant will be able to describe the proper use of the child safety seat harness, according to the child's age, weight, and height, in addition to the orientation of the child safety seat.
The participant will be able to describe the best location for installation in the vehicle.
The participant will be able to describe the basic installation of a child safety seat, using the available locking mechanisms.
The participant will be able to discuss the Louisiana child passenger safety law and its application to the specific child.
The participant will be familiar with the various pieces and parts to the child safety seat and how to use each part for the specific child.
The participant will be able to verbalize the categories of child safety seats in order to determine a proper selection.
The participants will be able to verbalize the necessity of facing the rear of the vehicle verses forward facing, while using best practice guidelines and the Louisiana child safety seat law.

Child Passenger Safety 102: You Can Make a Difference - Child Safety Seat Class
This is a 4-hour course for DCFS employees to learn the proper use of child safety seats and Louisiana child safety seat/seat belt laws. The class includes classroom lecture and activities. Attendance will assist you with the proper selection, direction, harnessing, location and usage of child safety seats. While this is an intermediate course, simple knowledge can improve crash outcomes and assist you to save a child's life in a motor vehicle crash. Classes are taught by nationally certified child passenger safety technicians.

Child Welfare Assessment and Decision Making Model (CWADM)
This course will provide an introductory foundation to the terms and concepts of the Department of Children and Family Services' Child Welfare Assessment and Decision Making Model (CWADM). This course is the pre-requisite for the CWADM course provided in Level 2 of the Foundations of Child Welfare Practices.

This course will provide an introductory foundation to the terms and concepts of the Department of Children and Family Services' Child Welfare Assessment and Decision Making Model (CWADM). This course is the pre-requisite for the CWADM course provided in Level 2 of the Foundations of Child Welfare Practices.

Child Welfare Assessment and Decision Making Overview
This training will provide an overview of the Child Welfare Assessment and Decision Making (CWADM) Model, a roadmap of how cases in Child Protective Services, Family Services and Foster Care will be assessed and key decisions that are made throughout the life of a case. This overview prepares staff for a series of system/policy changes, occurring over the next six to nine month period, which will align practice with the CWADM Model.

Child Welfare History and Law
Our nation's Child Welfare systems have evolved greatly since the 1800's. Several conditions, people, events, and evidence-based research have contributed to our modern-day system. At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to identify, describe, and evaluate the history and evolution of Child Welfare in America. This includes the understanding of major contemporary Child Welfare laws which guide our work.
