Form 5-Safety Assessment Overview
The Form 5 Safety Assessment is a shared Worker-Supervisor comprehensive assessment completed in all child welfare programs to guide decisions that keep children safe. This training was designed to help DCFS staff become more familiar with completing the Form 5 Safety Assessment accurately. This training guides you through completing each section of the Form 5 Safety Assessment and specific policy expectations.

Foster Parenting Training: An In-depth exploration of Advanced Topics - Domestic Violence: Impact on children's behavior and functioning
Trainings will provide in-depth discussion of topics relevant for providing developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, care for children involved with the child welfare system. 1.Participants will understand the basic concepts of power and control in intimate partner relationships. 2.Participants will be able to differentiate between tolerable and toxic stress and the impact that this has on child development. 3.Participants will understand ways that exposure to domestic violence impacts child behavior. 4.Participants will learn parenting skills to support children in their recovery from exposure to domestic violence.

Trainings will provide in-depth discussion of topics relevant for providing developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, care for children involved with the child welfare system. 1.Participants will understand the basic course of child development from birth through adolescence. 2.Participants will be able to identify how the circumstances leading to child welfare involvement may influence child development. 3.Participants will be able to identify ways to support children?s developmental progress.

Trainings will provide in-depth discussion of topics relevant for providing developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, care for children involved with the child welfare system. 1.Participants will understand behavioral challenges that are a part of normative child development. 2.Participants will be able to identify behavioral challenges that stem from maltreatment. 3.Participants will be able to identify ways to respond to the identified behavioral problems.

Trainings will provide in-depth discussion of topics relevant for providing developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, care for children involved with the child welfare system. 1.Participants will understand attachment as a bio-behavioral developmental process. 2.Participants will be able to identify the process of the development of attachment. 3.Participants will be able to delineate specific stages of attachment development.

Foster Parenting Training: An In-depth exploration of Advanced Topics - Trauma: Understanding children?s behavior in the context of maltreatment.
Trainings will provide in-depth discussion of topics relevant for providing developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, care for children involved with the child welfare system. 1.Participants will be able to define trauma and give 3 examples of different types of traumatic experiences. 2.Participants will be able to identify key symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). 3.Participants will understand the potential impact of childhood trauma on behavior. 4.Participants will be able to identify at least 2 evidence-based treatments for children who have experienced trauma.
