Foundational Introduction to F.O.R.E.C.A.S.T. Simulation
Project F.O.R.E.C.A.S.T. is a trauma-informed interactive simulation. This foundational course is a 3.5-hour introductory learning experience and builds important skills and concepts for helping children impacted by trauma, abuse, neglect, and loss. It is pre-requisite for enrolling in the full-day simulation experience. Project F.O.R.E.C.A.S.T. is a unique educational experience designed to: Help child-serving professionals make better decisions in situations involving childhood trauma. Simulate real-world scenarios and better prepare participants for the complex challenges of trauma-informed care. Include a strong emphasis on providing self-care for workers and the knowledge, skills and behaviors associated with secondary trauma. During this introductory learning experience participants will: Learn and practice concepts, tools and skills associated with trauma-informed care Define, identify, and apply the 12 Core Concepts in the context of a child abuse and neglect scenario Understand T.I.E.R.S. (Trauma-Informed Experiential Reasoning Skills) Discuss C.L.A.S. - Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services Understand and apply Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Model

Grief: The forgotten experience
This course is a part of the "Foster Parent Training: An In-Depth Exploration of Advanced Topics Trainings will provide in-depth discussion of topics relevant for providing developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, care for children involved with the child welfare system. Learning objectives: 1. Participants will be able to define grief and identify key symptoms of grief in children and adolescents. 2. Participants will understand the differences between trauma and grief experiences. 3. Participants will be able to identify at least 2 evidence-based treatments for children who are experiencing grief and need intervention.

How Can I Help? Overdose Prevention and Caregivers
This course provides comprehensive training on understanding substance use disorders, recognizing signs of opioid use, preventing opioid overdoses, effectively using Narcan, responding to overdoses, and supporting caregivers. Objectives: 1. Understand Substance Use Disorders: Participants will be able to define substance use disorders and how they affect the brain. 2. Recognize Signs of Opioid Use: Participants will learn to identify common signs and symptoms of opioid use and misuse. 3. Prevent Opioid Overdose: Participants will gain knowledge of strategies and practices that can prevent opioid overdose. 4. Use of Narcan: Participants will understand the purpose and proper use of Narcan (naloxone) in reversing opioid overdose. 5. Respond to Overdoses: Participants will be trained in immediate steps to take when responding to an opioid overdose. 6. Support for Caregivers: Participants will discuss how caregivers can support individuals with substance use disorders and protect themselves from secondary trauma.
